In modern society we are often sorry to see thatpeople are reluctant to help others out, not tomention helping a stranger; offering a helping handseems to be out of accord with the times.
Then what’s wrong with our society? Somepeople may say that facing skyrocketinghousingprices, expensive medical expenditure and soaring commodity prices, they have no choice butto struggle to make a living, and thus it would be impossible to spare a hand to help othersbecause it may bring them into trouble. Therefore, standing by indifferently is their only choice.
However, is it necessary to be selfish in order to survive, or in order to ensure that peopledo not take advantage of you? In my opinion, helping others brings a strong sense ofaccomplishment. What’s more, the evaluation criteria for judging one individual’s successshould be modified so that offering a helping hand to people in need is encouraged andwelcomed in our society all the time.

Equality of Education Opportunity
In recent years the problems which are causedby the inequality of education opportunity haveattracted the public's attention. For instance, thebackward teaching facilities anddilapidated schoolbuildings in rural areas are in sharp contrast tothose advanced facilities and well-equippedclassrooms in urban areas, students from poor families cannot go to universities because ofthe high tuition.
There are several factors which contribute to these problems. First, the distribution ofresources is unbalanced between rural and urban schools. Second, educational loans for poorstudents are far from enough. Third, the inequality in some schools' admission policies alsoturns many students away. The education inequality can result in many bad impacts. On onehand, it can affect people’s future employment. On the other hand，it is the root of manysocial problems.
To change this situation, I think, we should take the following measures. Firstly, thegovernment's spending on education should be increased and the allocation of public resourcesgives priority to rural and weak urban schools. Secondly, the implementation of thegovernment financial aid system for students should be accelerated. Thirdly, the governmentshould speed up education reforms to ensure everyone has equal access to schools.
