1911年辛亥革命以后，清朝統(tǒng)治被推翻，孫中山在南京建立中華民國政府。各省都督府代表在南京召開會議，討論歷法問題。會上達成了“行夏歷，所以順農時;從西歷，所以便統(tǒng)計”的共識，決定使用公歷，把公歷1月1日定做“新年”，把農歷正月初一稱做“春節(jié)”，但并未正式命名和推廣。1949年9月27日，中國人民政治協(xié)商會議第一屆全體會議通過使用“公歷紀年法”，將公歷1月1日定為“元旦”，把農歷正月初一定名為“春節(jié)”，并規(guī)定春節(jié)放假三天，讓人們熱烈地慶祝農歷新年。
在兩千多年的歷史進程中，我國的新年禮俗經(jīng)歷了萌芽、定型、裂變、轉型的發(fā)展過程。
