考研英語詞匯常見名詞后綴

1. -an：
electrician n. 電工；電氣技師
E.g. The electrician took the houselights down. 電工將劇場中觀眾席上的燈光減弱了一點。
physician n. [醫(yī)] 醫(yī)師，內(nèi)科醫(yī)師
E.g. He prefers to be a surgeon rather than a physician. 他喜歡當(dāng)外科醫(yī)生而不愿作內(nèi)科醫(yī)生。
2. -ant, -ent：
applicant n. 申請人
E.g. The job applicant must have good verbal skills. 應(yīng)聘這份工作的人必須具有良好的語言表達技能。
correspondent n. 通信者
E.g. The newspaper has a foreign correspondent. 這家報紙有個外國通訊記者。
3. -ard：
coward n. 懦夫，懦弱的人

drunkard n. 酒鬼，醉漢

4. -ee：
employee n. 雇員

5. -eer：
pioneer n. 開拓者，先鋒

volunteer n. 志愿者

6. -er, -or：
manufacturer n. 制造商

7. -ese：
Chin(a) + ese→Chinese n. 中國人；漢語

Japan + ese→Japanese n. 日本人；日語
E.g. Not only did he speak English well, but he spoke Japanese more easily. 他不但英語說得好，就連日語也講得輕松自如。
8. -(r)ess：
host+ ess→hostess n. 女主人
E.g. The hostess gave us a cordial greeting. 女主人熱忱地歡迎我們。
act+ ress→actress n. 女演員
E.g. The famous actress is now appearing at the Capital Theatre. 目前這位著名女演員正在首都劇場演出。
9. -ian：
logic+ ian→logician n. 邏輯學(xué)家
E.g. As the founder of pragmatism, firstly and mostly Peirce was a logician. 作為實用主義的鼻祖，皮爾士首先和主要是一位邏輯學(xué)家。
mathematic+ ian→mathematician n. 數(shù)學(xué)家
E.g. Einstein is identified with a higher mathematician. 愛因斯坦被列為高等數(shù)學(xué)家。
10.-ist：
drama+ (t)ist→dramatist n. 劇作家
E.g. Shakespeare is, by common consent, the greatest English dramatist. 莎士比亞被公認(rèn)是英國最偉大的劇作家。
dent+ ist→dentist n. 牙科醫(yī)生
